Scrambling Course
These courses will give you the skills to move from walking to scrambling and allow you tackle routes such as the Aonech Eagach or curved ridge in Glen Coe. This course is ideal for the hill walker who want to visit steeper and rockier places.
During the course your qualified and experienced instructor will lead you on a classic scramble teaching movement and route finding skills. You will then be given the opportunity to lead your own scramble developing route finding and rope work skills. As with all our courses your instructor will ensure the course is tailored to your objectives and skill base.
The two day course is our most popular option allowing skills to be consolidated on day two and the opportunity to visit two venues.
Over the one or two days you will look at skills such as:
- Reading the route
- Following a guidebook
- Effect of weather on the route
- Hazards of the scrambling environment
- Equipment such as rope and boots
- Rope work
- Selection of anchors
- When scrambling becomes rock climbing
Guided days
If you have a specific route in mind such as tower ridge on Ben Nevis we can guide you up your route and teach on the way, the main part of the day will be focused on getting your route done but there will be plenty of teaching on the way.
